What does give me pause is the level of ignorance towards colorism and anti-Blackness in Black and Brown communities, paired with the inability to put the Black women who were attacked in the center of the narrative, rather than get derailed by the fact that the word ‘Black’ is used in the headline. It’s not uncommon for white people to be derailed in conversations about race, trying to re-route narratives and police Black people by telling them what they should have written or how they should have written it.
